WRC Chile: Tanak ends Saturday comfortably on top
The 2019 world champion, Ott Tanak, dominated the opening stages of the rally, extending his lead to 58.3 seconds over Teemu Suninen. Tanak’s tire strategy played a crucial role in maintaining his advantage throughout the day. Thierry Neuville secured third place, but had a few hairy moments. Meanwhile, Elfyn Evans slipped from second to fourth due to a tire strategy mistake by Toyota. Kalle Rovanpera, the championship leader, suffered similar setbacks, ending the day in fifth place. A more conservative approach was taken in the afternoon stages, with the leading teams opting for hard compound tires.
